Orange has launched Orange Content, a new division under the direct supervision of Stéphane Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The new division will reinforce the presence and the investment of Orange in the content field. In a statement, Orange said the mission of the new division is to steer the strategy and provide support for all Group countries.
“This branch will comprise a large part of the current Content Management, the subsidiaries Orange Studio, OCS and OPTV (Orange Presentations TV). It will serve as support to the countries where Orange is present and will continue the work of strategic intelligence already in place. It will be in charge of proposing international guidelines on content policy and will accompany countries, including Orange France, in the negotiations that are being conducted,” Orange stated.
It would have a two-headed management: David Kessler, Director and Serge Laroye, Deputy Director. Set up from 1st September, Orange Content will have 5 essential functions:
1. Strategic intelligence, deciphering trends and movements of players in order to identify opportunities for the Group and countries,
2. Acquisition of rights by negotiating distribution agreements as well as agreements on premium rights or with studios. This will also include providing support to countries,
3. Steering and developing a production / publishing cluster that brings together Orange Studio and OCS or any other upcoming entity responsible for editing and producing,
4. The reflection and implementation of proposals on new formats, new uses, innovative solutions, in the area of content with the various players in the Group and external partners,
5. The monitoring of the development of the turnover contained in the countries through the strategic planning, co-construction with countries and the development of joint action plans, as well as the development of the profitability of activities.
The commercial and operational activities of distribution and aggregation of contents are also located in each country entity, in particular for Orange France.
The strategy that will be implemented, particularly in the European market, will give priority to the widest possible distribution of the best offers of content on the market, and invest in cinema and Series via OCS and Orange Studio.

Orange and CANAL + content partnership
Orange and CANAL + announced they are strengthening the distribution of CANAL offers for Orange TV customers and will be offering an unprecedented CANAL + ESSENTIAL marketing model for Fiber d’Orange customers.
Under the agreement, Orange will market the CANAL + ESSENTIEL product to its Fiber customers in the coming months, without commitment and on attractive financial terms. This new marketing model, specific to CANAL + ESSENTIEL on Orange Fiber, will enhance the promise of Orange Fiber and seduce new customer targets for CANAL + ESSENTIEL. In line with the Family by CANAL offer launched in 2016, Orange is strengthening its partnership with CANAL + by combining the power of Fiber 100% Fiber with the best of entertainment.
