Orange, a leading telecommunications company, has inaugurated the Orange Digital Center (ODC) in Guinea-Bissau, a comprehensive ecosystem designed to foster digital skills development and support local entrepreneurship. The center aims to provide a wide range of resources and opportunities for young people, startups, and the wider community to thrive in the digital age.

The ODC Guinea-Bissau is part of a network of 26 ODCs spread across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. It houses several key components, including a coding school, a Solidarity FabLab, Orange Fab, and Orange Digital Ventures Africa. Each component plays a crucial role in nurturing digital talent and promoting innovation.

The coding school offers free and accessible technological training and events for young developers, tech enthusiasts, and individuals with project ideas. It aims to equip them with the necessary skills to succeed in the digital economy.

The Solidarity FabLab provides a collaborative space equipped with digital manufacturing tools and resources, enabling users to prototype and create innovative solutions. It fosters creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among its users.

Orange Fab focuses on supporting startups by providing mentorship, training, and networking opportunities. It aims to accelerate their growth and help them scale their businesses.

Orange Digital Ventures Africa is an investment fund that supports innovative startups with high growth potential. It provides financial backing and expertise to help them succeed in the competitive digital landscape.

The inauguration of the ODC Guinea-Bissau was attended by high-level political authorities, including the Minister of Transport, Telecoms, and the Digital Economy, along with members of Orange Guinea-Bissau management and representatives from the Orange Africa and Middle East Management Committee.

The opening of the ODC is a significant step in Orange’s commitment to digital development and socio-economic inclusion in Guinea-Bissau. By providing free access to cutting-edge resources and training, Orange aims to inspire a new generation of creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

The center is expected to play a crucial role in bridging the digital skills gap in Guinea-Bissau and empowering young people with the tools they need to succeed in the digital economy. It will also contribute to the growth of the local tech ecosystem and foster innovation in various sectors.

Orange’s investment in the ODC Guinea-Bissau demonstrates its confidence in the country’s potential and its commitment to supporting its digital transformation. The center is poised to become a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing to the country’s economic development and social progress.
