Opera Software has officially launched Opera One, its latest iteration of the Opera Browser. With a complete redesign from the ground up, Opera One presents a range of innovative features empowered by artificial intelligence (AI), establishing a new benchmark in web browsing.
During its beta phase, Opera Software offered developers early access to the Opera One browser, showcasing its modular and multithreaded capabilities. Now, after refining the technology, Opera One is now available for users worldwide.
The highlight of Opera One is the seamless integration of AI technology known as Aria. Developed through collaboration with OpenAI, Aria harnesses the power of Opera’s Composer AI engine while incorporating OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 for additional capabilities. By leveraging its extensive knowledge base, including Opera’s support documentation, Aria becomes an intelligent companion, capable of assisting users with troubleshooting and customizing their browsing experience.
To engage with Aria, users simply press the Ctrl+/ (Cmd+/ for Mac) keyboard shortcut, opening a text prompt within the browser for direct interaction with the AI. Additionally, a dedicated Aria link is conveniently placed in the left sidebar for easy access.
To ensure privacy and security, interaction with Aria requires an Opera account. Users can create an account or sign in to start using the AI-powered features. Opera One introduces a range of exciting capabilities that enhance the browsing experience:
- Contextual Browsing: Users can organise their tabs into separate groups, facilitating contextual navigation and efficient multitasking.
- AI-Powered Chat: Aria offers free chat functionality, enabling users to converse with the AI directly, obtaining relevant information and assistance.
- Sidebar Messaging: Communication with Aria occurs in the sidebar, which can be pinned for constant visibility, providing continuous access to AI-powered support.
- Enhanced Privacy and Ad-Free Browsing: Opera One empowers users with free ad-blocking features, ensuring faster browsing speeds and enhanced privacy protection.
Opera One also incorporates the AI Prompts feature introduced earlier this year. By simply right-clicking or highlighting text within the browser, users can receive contextual prompts from Aria, further enriching their browsing experience. The company emphasises the importance of user control, allowing individuals to decide whether or not to engage with the AI services.
Tab Islands, another notable addition to Opera One, revolutionises tab management by grouping related tabs together. Users can effortlessly organise their browsing sessions, whether for trip planning, work-related tasks, or any other context. The feature’s intuitive design ensures easy identification and seamless switching between different topics.
The third major enhancement in Opera One lies in its modular design, featuring a multithreaded compositor that enhances navigation fluidity. This architecture allows Opera engineers to create a more powerful and feature-rich browser, perfectly poised for an AI-driven future.
