Online eCommerce site Gloo.ng is shutting down next month. This was revealed via a tweet yesterday by the promoter, founder and CEO, Olumide Olusanya.

Fellows, listen up! We’ve BIG news coming out of @Gloo_ng next month! We’ll be shutting down our ecommerce business & will be launching a new business we’ve built past 18months in stealth!💪🙌🏻

Ahead of that time, we’ll be selling off our inventory @ 50% discount! Stay tuned! https://t.co/NRtGCgdJqU

The company which started operations as BuyCommonThings.com in 2012 rebranded in 2013 to Gloo.ng.

Though he did not give any reason for the closure of operations, it would not be unconnected with unfavourable operating conditions for eCommerce companies in Nigeria.

Some other related companies that have shut down operations or been acquired in the last few years include OLX, Dealdey, Careers24, Konga.com, and many more.

However, he mentioned that he is working on a new business which he would launch very soon. Though not much is known about this new venture.
