OnePlus has revealed its second smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 2, which the company promises will have a battery life of up to 100 hours on a single charge. This claim surpasses the battery lives of many popular smartwatches like the Apple Watch Series 9 (18 hours) and Pixel Watch 2 (24 hours with always-on display enabled).
The company will make an official debut of the new smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. Despite not revealing all the details about the wearable, OnePlus’ lofty battery life claim has already set high expectations. OnePlus president Kinder Liu stated that the company’s aim for the OnePlus Watch 2 is to secure the title of “Best Flagship Smartwatch of the year” with its superior battery life.
The design of the OnePlus Watch 2 is said to mirror that of the OnePlus 12 series, with a stainless steel body and a sapphire crystal watch face. It will be available in Black Steel and Radiant Steel color variants. Promising “unparalleled reliability for everyday use and meticulous health monitoring,”
OnePlus has yet to disclose other significant details such as the device’s price and release date. Speculation is rampant that the OnePlus Watch 2 will use the Wear OS operating system, potentially aiding it to perform better than its predecessor, which was met with lukewarm reception.
OnePlus President Kinder Liu acknowledged the company’s acknowledgement of this previous response, stating that they had taken a “three-year hiatus and a reflective pause” prior to launching this new wearable.
