Two of the Samwer Brothers (of Rocket Internet) and Fabian Siegel (Co-Founder of Delivery Hero) have teamed up to start a €150 million ($194 mn) Venture Capital company named Global Founders Capital.
The site lists the three persons above as the founding partners and the company is headquartered in Munich, Germany. Global Founders Capital invests stage agnostic. They do Seed, Series A or participate in later rounds.
Rocket Internet, founded by the three Samwer brothers Oliver, Alexander and Marc in 2007, spans over over 50 portfolio companies in 40 markets and is especially known for large-scale eCommerce ventures, including copycats of Amazon, eBay and Zappos.
Fabian stepped down as the co-CEO of food delivery giant Delivery Hero. In a chat with The Next Web, Fabian said the new company has not made any investments yet and that the fund will sit alongside Rocket Internet but operate completely separately from the Internet business accelerator.
He went on to say that “The goal is not to provide follow-on funding or growth capital for Rocket portfolio startups, but to do things that Rocket Internet currently can’t do. In fact, Global Founders Capital will be zooming in on areas where Rocket companies may have missed the boat in the past – in terms of industry, market or geography.”
