Joining Lagos Business School in 2001 as a senior fellow in the Analysis of Business Problems department, Professor Ogbechie quickly became a cornerstone of the institution, eventually stepping into various influential roles, including director of the Etisalat Sustainability Centre, now known as the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre. In 2021, he ascended to the role of dean, a position he has since used to cement LBS’s standing as Africa’s foremost business school.
Ogbechie’s tenure as dean has been marked by numerous achievements. Under his leadership, the school retained its top-tier status and global accreditations while setting record enrollment figures. He introduced several flagship programs, including a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and an MSc in Management (MiM). Additionally, he revamped the school’s Global Chief Executive Programme, tailoring it to address Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities. His enduring commitment to sustainability led to notable initiatives like the adoption of 90% renewable electricity and a significant reduction in single-use plastics across campus.

Beyond academia, David-West serves as an independent non-executive director at both Stanbic IBTC Asset Management and Sterling Bank Ltd., bringing valuable insights from the financial sector to her leadership at LBS.
