Topicals, a Los Angeles, CA-based skincare company announced that it has raised $10 million in a series A funding round.

The round was led by CAVU Consumer Partners with participation from Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, Hannah Bronfman, Bozoma Saint John, Yvonne Orji, and Marcy Venture Partners.

Co-founded in 2018 by CEO Olamide Olowe, Topicals is a skincare company transforming the way people feel about skin through effective products and mental health advocacy. According to Olowe, she and her co-founder, Claudia Teng were inspired to create the skincare product because they both grew up with skin conditions.

Olamide grew up with post barbae folliculitis (a skin inflammation) while Claudia, grew up with eczema.

The company says it intends to use the funds to further accelerate its omnichannel growth, its recruitment efforts, channel expansion, and brand marketing awareness.

The company is launching a 12-month accelerator program designed to provide nonprofits in the mental health space with leadership training, mentorship, and business advisory. To date, Topicals has donated more than $50,000 to support nonprofits providing mental health resources to marginalized communities.
