By the time some of you read this, Donald Trump would have been sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America.
So you should be expecting a lot of tweets from his Twitter handle @realDonaldTrump and the official handle of the President of the United States of America, @POTUS. He had earlier said he wasn’t going to use the official handle but he changed his mind later in the week saying, he would soon have 280 characters to tweet, double Twitter’s 140 character limit, apparently agreeing to use both accounts.
“The tweeting, I thought I’d do less of it, but I’m covered so dishonestly by the press, so dishonestly, that I can put out Twitter – and it’s not 140, it’s now 280 – I can go bing bing bing . . . and they put it on and as soon as I tweet it out,” Trump told the Times.
He will definitely continue with the 13.6 million followers from the Obama administration. His personal account already has about 20.1 million followers.
A Twitter spokesman says the transition of accounts will take place today but all of Obama’s 346 tweets will be transferred to a new account (@POTUS44) specially created for Obama would be archived by the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
One wonders what will be the face of the new tweets from @POTUS. I even wonder if anyone will unfollow @POTUS in protest of his regime.
Only time will tell.
