OceanHub Africa, recognized as the foremost facilitator of ocean-impact entrepreneurship in Africa, has publicized the initiation of its fifth accelerator scheme. This program underscores the organization’s ongoing commitment to encouraging inventive startups focused on nurturing and safeguarding the ocean environment across the continent.
OceanHub Africa, the leading amplifier of entrepreneurship centered on the ocean in the African continent, is inviting startups which have a constructive direct or indirect influence on the ocean to join its 8-month acceleration programme.
Since 2020, OceanHub Africa has successfully managed to support its pool of 32 startups to raise a significant $10 million and expand their operations to other countries, thus enhancing their economic, social, and environmental impact.
This year’s accelerator program is scheduled to commence in July, including an in-person learning bootcamp to be held in Cape Town.
The agenda of the programme involves delivering training on investment preparedness, market accessibility, pitching tactics, and methods to measure and manage ocean-impact. Furthermore, the chosen entrepreneurs will benefit from personalized advice from pivotal mentors and industry professionals until their graduation set at the end of February 2025, in line with the Ocean Innovation Africa. This is an international summit hosted by the accelerator focused on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within Africa’s oceanic sphere.
Eligibility for the startups rests on the criteria that they must illustrate a favorable influence on ocean sustainability, must be operational within the geographical boundaries of Africa, must run on a for-profit basis, have a scalable product or service available in the market and display clear innovation or have a disruptive business model.
OceanHub Africa urged startups in a press release, “Don’t let this golden opportunity to be a part of OceanHub Africa’s acceleration programme slip by. Join a network of ocean-minded entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and businesses who are all driven by a common goal—to fast-track the creation and acceptance of new sustainable ocean solutions throughout Africa.”
