Nvidia finalizes acquisition of AI infrastructure startup Run:ai

Nvidia has successfully finalized its acquisition of Run:ai, an Israeli startup specializing in the management and optimization of AI hardware infrastructure. As a result of this merger, Run:ai has announced that its software, which is currently compatible exclusively with Nvidia products, will be open-sourced. This strategic move will allow competitors such as AMD and Intel to adapt and utilize the software for their own hardware.

In a statement, Run:ai expressed their enthusiasm about the merger:

We are eager to build on the achievements we’ve obtained until now, expand our talented team, and grow our product and market reach. Open sourcing the software will enable it to extend its availability to the entire AI ecosystem.

Nvidia initially declared its intention to acquire Run:ai in April. However, the deal encountered regulatory challenges, prompting investigations by both the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice to assess whether the acquisition would negatively impact market competition. Ultimately, the European Commission granted approval for the deal in December.
