Samsung announced to be releasing a software update which will turn the remaining Note 7 out in the world into essentially a very expensive paper weight. This is happening after a global recall in September when the phone’s sudden burst of flames killed the line.
A few Note 7 users decided that the phone was too good that it was worth keeping but now Samsung is pulling the plug on the software too, rendering these phones useless. The question here is, why will Samsung wait until to now to brick these phones, shouldn’t they have done this earlier in September during the recall?
Well, this unprecedented move is really interesting as Samsung is taking a more aggressive move towards getting these phones back in before any more battery issues happen. The company have been doing this incrementally with one of the earlier software patches essentially keeping the battery level at 60%. Something like this will leave you wondering why people would risk still keeping these phones after the recall? Most users I asked claim it is one of the best phones of 2016, despite the part of it exploding.
This update is expected to be released on the 19th of December 2016 and keep this in mind before updating, the update will destroy your phone and will render it not usable. According to Samsung, 93% of Note 7 have been recalled and 7% of the phones are still out there and could spell danger for the company and it users. Obviously, they don’t want anymore Note 7 exploding because they will still be liable for it.
