nThe nominations for the 71st Annual Emmy Awards have been announced. The Emmy Awards recognizes and honors the best in television.
The nominations were revealed at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center on Tuesday morning.
Eventual winners will be announced during a telecast scheduled for September 22, 2019, which will air live on Fox. No host has yet been named for the show.
Among the nominations perennial winners “Game of Thrones” came out the clear winner from the nomination ceremony, racking up 32 noms — including recognition for Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington in lead acting categories and Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage and more for supporting. This is the last time the show will be nominated.
It was also the last time for “Veep,” which picked up 9 noms, including Outstanding Comedy Series and a lead actress nom for Julia Louis-Dreyfus according to TMZ.
Other shows picking up multiple noms included “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with 20, “Chernobyl” with 19 and Netflix’s “When They See Us” with 16. “Schitt’s Creek” also picked up its first nominations with a Comedy Series nom and love for stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara. “Fleabag” also seemed to be an academy favorite.
