Is it a play on the number 2 or it can actually give you you two days of power from a single charge? Well that is the promise from Nokia about the Nokia 2 phone that was launched on Tuesday in Delhi, India. And it could be true based on the fact that the smartphone has an integrated 4100 mAh battery.
HMD Global also says the 2-day battery testing was conducted using a real life usage test. The test included active usage of a device for 5 hours per day with a new battery. Usage included e.g. gaming, video streaming, calling, sending sms, browsing and using apps (such as social media, news, navigation and music). The test was conducted with normal device settings in a lit indoor environment. The device was left on standby overnight.
HMD Global launched this entry level to conquer the Indian entry-level smartphone segment.
According to Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global ; “People rely on their phones so much these days with many people subconsciously rationing their battery life when out and about so they can last the day. We don’t think you should have to do less with your phone which is why we created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop.
With the Nokia 2, we wanted to replicate the unique Android experience we’ve delivered so far with the long-lasting battery which so many fans associate and expect from their Nokia phones. To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2– from the display to battery, chipset to system design – has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery to give fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on.”
Built to last, the Nokia 2’s sleek frame is precision-machined from a single block of aluminium while Corning Gorilla Glass is complemented by sculpted polycarbonate on the back delivering both a great feel and the build-quality you expect from a Nokia smartphone.
The Nokia 2 is a 5″ smartphone with 1280 x 720 resolution. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor and Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system but it accommodates the latest version of the OS, called Android Oreo
The RAM is 1GB and the internal storage is 8 GB storage, plus a MicroSD card slot with support for up to 128 GB. It sports an 8 MP autofocus rear camera and 5 MP front camera.
It is available in three colours – Pewter / Black, Pewter / White, Copper / Black and available as both single SIM and dual SIM variants.
It is the cheapest Nokia phone yet at global average retail price of €99 ($110)
