Nintendo just revealed its wii U successor which Nintendo calls the Nintendo Switch. It is a hybrid mobile and home console which is more like a tablet. It has detachable controllers which Nintendo calls the ‘Joy Con’. The internet got to know about this hybrid console about a year ago and now, the company just made it official.
“Nintendo Switch allows gamers the freedom to play however they like,” Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said, “it gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries.”
Nintendo revealed the switch through a promotional video and we can proudly say it looks really attractive. We get to see games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and NBA 2Kalongside.
Hardware specifications is unknown for now. According to reports, the screen should be around 7 inches, of unspecified resolution. Powered by an unspecified custom Nvidia Tegra processor.
Controllers attached to a central unit is called the “Joy-Con Grip”. The Joy Con gives a single game controller experience, but also slide in the side of the tablet. They can also be used independently like two miniature game pads. There is a Pro Controller option if the Joy Con isn’t your thing.
Nintendo has the support from game developers like Activision, Atlus, Bethesda, Capcom, EA, Epic Games, Konami, PlatinumGames, Square Enix, Take-Two and Ubisoft.
Expect a worldwide release on March 2017.
