Zain South Sudan is now partnering with fintech company NilePay PLC, to launch a mobile money service dubbed NilePay.
NilePay Mobile Money will be the first licensed mobile money service in the country.
Zain South Sudan CEO, Magdi Taha said, “this partnership will bring in more mobile wallet services to South Sudan market by offering customers a convenient and secure platform to withdraw and deposit money to their accounts.”
This service will enable South Sudan citizens to join in on the global e-commerce activities.
The service is set to provide mobile money services to 2 million active customers in South Sudan, who previously lacked access to basic financial services.
“NilePay Mobile Service’s partnership with Zain South Sudan is part of the company’s long-term strategy to enable eCommerce and digitize financial services across the country,” said Darius Mobe, Director, NilePay Mobile Money.

On a global scale, mobile money accounts for transactions averaging $1 billion daily, which are made by the 700 million people with registered mobile money accounts.
