With the successful test of the first drone flight which took off in Ethiopia, it can now boast of being able to reach the most vulnerable people living in the most remote areas of the world with lifesaving medical supplies.
The flight was carried out with support from the Ethiopian Government’s Information Network Security Agency (INSA) and The Drones Doing Good Alliance (DDG)
This announcement was made in a series of tweets from the company.
With this drone solution, LifeBank becomes the first African led company to execute BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) flights for healthcare logistics.
This exciting news comes on the heels of another big win for the company when its CEO, Temie Giwa-Tubosun emerged as the winner for the first prize of $250,000 in the African Netpreneur Prize Initiative.
Zipline, another company though not African, has already started using drones for the delivery of medical supplies in Rwanda, Tanzania and Ghana
