Nigerian mobile startup Treepz (formerly Plentywaka) was recently named Best African Industrial Technology Company in 2022 at the Global Startup Awards held in Cape Town, South Africa.
Treepz participated in the event as an industry tech leader and was chosen as one of the 12 winners after three rounds of evaluation by independent, industry, and category experts. “We won the Industrial Tech Category,” the company said in a blog post.
The Global Startup Awards brings together top-notch startups and investors from over 100 countries. The network offers members the opportunity to meet potential mentors, partners and clients, as well as access the latest trends in the industry.
The Global Startup Awards was introduced to Africa last year to find technological innovations aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It saw 55 countries compete in 12 categories including agricultural technology, health technology, industrial technology and Women in tech.
This year’s edition saw more than 7,500 companies from 54 African countries took part in the event. Award-winning startups are funded for their social, environmental or economic impact on the African continent and Treepz is eligible in all three areas. This support will continue to help Treepz contribute fairly to the achievement of the UN SDGs and make cities more resilient and resilient.
“Our excitement still can’t be measured as we know thousands of companies applied to win this exact category and we emerged victorious! We must be doing something right,” the company said.
Treepz is one of Africa’s leading shared mobility startups and has established itself with close to 10,000 daily rides completed on its platform.
Since its inception, the startup has achieved remarkable milestones, including completing 1.5 million bookings within 30 months of operations and expanding to Ghana and Uganda with the acquisitions of Stabus and Ugabus in both countries.
Till date, the Nigerian mobile startup has the number one market share in Ghana and Uganda in less than a year in both countries.
