Artificial Intelligence applying picture touching and identification app, Touchabl has gotten an endowment in seed funding to the tune of US$ 20,000 from Hubly for the furtherance of the development of its product and expansion in reach.
The Port Harcourt based Touchabl allows users search, receive information about and shop for items like dresses, wristwatches and bags simply by touching pictures of the items on their timeline in the app or in their phone photo gallery.
While speaking on the achievement, Gabriel Eze, Touchabl CEO said, “Since launching in public beta, we have collected some interesting feedback and have significantly modified our technology and value proposition. We will build upon our technology using this feedback.”
Hubly, formerly Genesy Tech Hub provided the seed funding through its Genesy Start Zone Program, an incubator which supports viable startups in their developing processes and also ensures their sustainability.
Subsequently, Hubly will also train and mentor the Touchabl team with proper and frequent assessment and feedback when due to help them grow into a matured business. However, this will last for a 6- month period and is actually a condition for funding.
According to Techative, Touchabl which launched officially in October 2017 and reached a milestone of 1000 users in February, had previously received equity-free funding from Ibom LLC at StartupSouth 3 and from Office of ICT Innovation & Entrepreneurship (OIIE) – a subsidiary of NITDA – at the Startup Friday in Uyo.
