    Nigerian, Utof Ekong, solves age-long mathematical problem, breaks 50-year record in Tokai University

    Nigerian student Utof Ekong achieved a feat of earning a first class degree and becoming the best overall student at Tokai University in Tokyo, Japan since 1965, breaking a 50 year old record. The last time anyone graduated with a grade point average similar to Utof Ekong’s was over 50 years ago.

    He also solved a 30-year old outstanding mathematical equation in his first semester.

    Tokai University is a private university in Tokyo, Japan, established in 1943. It is focused on the sciences and technology and roughly 60 per cent of all students are enrolled in these schools.

    Utof was able to put himself through school by working two jobs, and has won a total of 6 academic awards in the institution. He speaks English, Yoruba, French and Japanese.

    He is currently working for Nissan and already has two patents for electronic car design to his name.
