The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive (EVC/CE) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta, has been honored with an Award of Excellence in Regulatory Excellence for NCC’s attainment of the 2018 target set for broadband penetration in Nigeria.

Prof. Danbatta received the award from Kabuga, Kano branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), yesterday during the Society’s 2019 Annual Dinner and Awards Night which took place in Kano.

The EVC, in his response on behalf of other awardees at the event, thanked NSE Kabuga branch for the honor. He informed the audience that the broadband penetration in Nigeria was actually less than 6 percent when he assumed duty as the Chief Executive of NCC.

He expressed the willingness of NCC to facilitate the accomplishment of new broadband penetration target that may be set by the Federal Government.

Prof. Danbatta has served as Chairman of Kano Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
