Nigerian Presidency opening a Nairaland account is like POTUS opening a Twitter account

Why wouldn’t Seun Osewa smile? For the Nigerian Presidency to recognise, open an account on your platform? The street credibility of Nairaland, Nigeria’s number one discussion forum just got up a notch.

Yes it is true. The Nigerian Presidency has opened an account on Nairaland. The user name is Presidency. It was actually opened on the 8th of June 2016.

FLASH: The Presidency has a new address 🙂

And our first news on there is an update on @npower_ng !https://t.co/Dfy7vXtren#NPowerNG

And the first topic it posted was FG’s Social Investment Jobs Portal Records 400,000 Registrations In 36 Hours

It is truly a nice development as “The Nigerian Presidency” is getting closer to the ears of Nigerians online.

True there are a lot of Nigerians on Nairaland, the onus will now be on Seun Osewa’s team to moderate the comments on the Presidency’s page. Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant on Digital/New Media for President Buhari, thinks that it will be difficult trying to engage Nigerians on Nairaland.

.@DigiCommsNG has a difficult assignment: figuring out a way to make the new Nairaland page truly engaging. What do you think? #weASOcial

Some people think it is a good idea while others think it is not. Here are some of the comments from Twitter.

Yay! This is amazing! Congrats @nairaland @seunosewa … Can we have govt agencies on nairaland also? NairalandPages https://t.co/i5DwfOyh4f

Whichever way, we hope your objectives of opening this account are met.
