A CHINESE firm that specialises in security communications, ZTE Nigeria has said that it has completed the National Public Service Communications System (NPSCS) contract awarded it, adding that the impact of the project is already being felt in the management of security operations.
Brielle Gao, Deputy Managing Director of ZTE said this in Lagos during a parley with ICT journalists, emphasising that the project was of the same standard with what it had done in other parts of the continent, including China, its home country.
“ZTE is a global security solutions provider. One of our best-selling solutions is the security solutions we provide to the world. This system is called the global trunk key system. It has been successfully implemented in more than 40 countries around the world including Nigeria. All the solutions that we have provided for Nigeria is the same provided all over the world. In China, it is the same thing. If you go to Ghana, Senegal and some other African countries where we have this security communications project, all the projects are the same,” she said.
Speaking further on the project, Gao said; “We have built a completely secure security platform for the Federal Government across the 36 states. The project has about 700 BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) as one of its major components. The BTS will provide the platform for the whole country. The implementation was slightly delayed because of securing land for the BTS and Customs,” she said.
On local content status of the project, Gao said the project was implemented by both the Chinese and local engineers, adding that more than 1,000 security personnel from all the security agencies in the country have also been trained both at home and in China about how to run the security equipment.
