The “Developing the High-Level Strategy and Implementation Plan for a National AI Strategy for Nigeria” workshop, convened by the Federal Government, signals a commitment to shaping the future of this transformative technology,
Minister of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, underscored the nation’s ambitious goals. “Nigeria must have a voice on the global stage in how AI is designed and regulated,” he stated, recognizing the ethical implications alongside technological advancement. This proactive approach acknowledges the power of AI to both drive progress and perpetuate harm, highlighting Nigeria’s intention to not merely adopt these technologies, but to actively guide their development towards positive outcomes within its own borders and beyond.
