Nigerian Science, Technology & Innovation Television (NSTI-TV) is a dedicated television channel launched by the Nigerian government, focusing on scientific knowledge and technological advancements. The channel aims to promote scientific awareness and innovation within the Nigerian cultural context.

NSTI-TV was officially launched on 11 April in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, and Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh.

The channel will broadcast in multiple languages, including English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, ensuring broad accessibility for Nigerian audiences. It will be available via terrestrial, satellite and online platforms.

    Topics Covered by NSTI-TV

NSTI-TV will cover a wide array of subjects related to science, technology, and innovation, such as engineering, scientific heritage, science policy, health and medicine, natural science, environment and wildlife, children’s curiosity, science and society, and agricultural innovations.

The channel will use various interactive formats to engage viewers, including documentaries, interviews, demonstrations, game shows, science fiction, and docu-dramas.

    Objectives of NSTI-TV

NSTI-TV aims to inform, educate, and entertain viewers while publicising scientific achievements and fostering the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and skills for the benefit of the general public. It also seeks to help Nigerians understand the significance of science, technology and innovation in nation-building.

Is NSTI-TVAl aligned with the country’s National Goals?

The launch of NSTI-TV is in line with the Presidential Executive Order No.5, which seeks to embed science, technology and innovation into the daily lives of Nigerians, contributing to the country’s national development objectives.

The new television channel arrives at a time when Nigeria is experiencing a surge in technological growth. Numerous tech hubs have emerged in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital, fostering innovation, encouraging collaboration among tech startups, and attracting investment.
