Engr. Timasaniyu Ahmed-Rufai, Managing Director of Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat) Ltd, managers of Nigeria’s hybrid geostationary satellite, has been directed by the board of directors to proceed on indefinite leave.

Statement released by Sonny Aragba-Akpore, head, Corporate Communications, NigComSat, revealed that the leave is to pave way for an investigation into the financial status of the company.

It further revealed that the development followed a directive by the Honourable Minister for Communication Technology in Nigeria, Omobola Johnson.

An acting Managing Director has subsequently been named for NigComSat who would oversee the company’s activities pending the conclusion of the investigation. She is Ms Abimbola Alale who before her appointment was the executive director (Marketing) at NigComSat.
