Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems Plc in partnership with The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company just launched an online platform to facilitate convenient payment options for post-paid customers for both energy and non-energy related bills. The Head, Communication Strategy, Mr. Pekun Adeyanju confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the scheme would enhance service delivery to its customers. The NIBSS is a central switch for interconnectivity and interoperability of payment schemes.
The new payment process will ensure prompt credits of post-paid customer accounts thereby avoiding unplanned service interruptions. According to the statement, the platform which went live on August 1, 2014, will be available on the IKEDC website using credit and debit cards; Internet banking portals of financial institutions with the NIBSS e-Bills pay platform and bank branches across Lagos State.
In a statement quoted by the The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, IKEDC, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje, He said the initiative represented another milestone for the company as it continued to enhance customer experience within its network. “This upgrade of our electronic bill payment process has been designed to deliver a more convenient, efficient and seamless experience for customers, whilst paying their IKEDC bills. He urged all esteemed customers to embrace the platform as the work to ensuring enhanced power supply to customers continues.
Ajifowobaje explained that the new payment channels had been developed for the post-paid customers, adding that the company was involved in ongoing plans aimed at providing more options for such customers.He added that customers that encountered any challenge should send their complaints to the IKEDC contact centre through the telephone or email.
The IKEDC boss said customers could also visit the company’s website for more information on steps for online payment and in bank branches across Lagos.
