If the rumours are true, you won’t need an iPhone for the next Apple Watch to work.
After a year dominating the smartwatch group, the brilliant team of engineers and designers at Apple are reportedly doing what they do best: figuring out how to make good products even better.
The unconfirmed rumour of the new versions of the device will include “cell-network connectivity and a faster processor.” In other words, future generations of the Apple Watch may be able to connect directly to your mobile service provider without having to connect to an iPhone. While Apple won’t confirm whether it’s working on this functionality, it would be a smart move for them to implement it. Not only would it improve the Watch’s performance, it would also make selling Watches to people who insist on using Android products a lot easier.
If network connectivity is coming to the Watch, we won’t know about it until the company’s CEO Tim Cook says so himself, since Apple is known for being too secretive on its projects but we might get to hear about this device and that might be soon, hopefully at Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference, kicking off June 13.
