The members of the newly inaugurated National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)’s governing board had their first meeting yesterday at the Agency’s corporate base in Abuja.
The chairman of the board, Prof. Adeolu Akande in his remarks urged the board members to to develop a good synergy in pursuit of the core objectives of the agency.
While admonishing the board, Akande said, “NITDA has worked over the past years to attain these objectives. Let us pay tribute to the founding fathers of the agency and all others who have worked over the years to take it to height it has attained.”
Speaking further, the Professor opined that information technology could help solve most of the problems ravaging the country. He went ahead promising to work together with other members to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the agency.
On the other hand, the Secretary of the board and Director of the Agency, Dr. Isa Pantami took advantage of the meeting to inform other members that President Muhammadu Buhari has challenged all ICT stakeholders to leverage on technology to diversify the country’s economy and also reverse the trend of Nigeria from being an importing nation to an ICT exporting one.
