For the holidays, Messenger Kids has released a number of features that include Dark Mode, voice effects, and a better option to play collaborative games within message threads. The app seems to be competing with the adult’s Messenger app in terms of features.
The Messenger app for children aged six to 12 will now include a dark mode, which first appeared in the main Messenger app at the beginning of 2019. iOS users will get it first, and Android will follow.

There are going to be a lot of new voice effects that will be available in the coming weeks. They’ll be available on iOS first, just like dark mode. A child can use the service’s current voice messages feature to sound like a robot, ghost, gorilla, mouse, or talking into a seashell. You can change your audio message before it is transmitted by selecting one of the five options that display after you record it.
As part of the addition of these two new capabilities, Messenger Kids is also making changes to its games feature, which will now allow youngsters to launch two-player built-in games from within a chat by clicking on the orange controller icon. In the past, these were hidden away in a different tab called “Explore.” In the beginning, this change will come to iOS first, and then Android will follow.
People still don’t know how good or bad Messenger Kids is or if it’s good for kids to use social media at such a young age. Over the past two years, when schools were closed around the world because of the pandemic, the app has been a good way for kids to connect with each other.
While there were some early concerns with access and protection, the programme has largely run without incident, which relieves some stress for parents, Messenger Kids today has more than 7 million active accounts.
