TikTok is reportedly testing a new feature that would make scrolling on the app easier and less distracting. The new feature, which Leaker Matt Navara called “clear mode,” is being tested with a small group of users right now. Clear mode eliminates all on-screen clutter, including captions and buttons, when viewing content in an app.
Once clear mode is activated, the screenshots posted by users indicate that you will no longer see usernames, captions, audio information, and other data. In some instances, it appears that you can also remove the like, comment, and share buttons for a viewing experience that is completely free of distractions.
If the new feature is fully rolled out, it could be helpful for people who want to get rid of all the extra stuff on the screen and just watch what they want. Clear mode might also come in handy in situations where usernames or captions end up covering significant portions of a video.
In addition, viewers frequently comment “crop” on a video to request that the user reupload it so that it can be screenshot and cropped without any captions or buttons obscuring the content. Enabling clear mode could eliminate this issue.
In a statement to Techcrunch, “TikTok… doesn’t have much to share on the test at this time. ” Given that clear mode is currently undergoing limited testing, it is unknown if or when TikTok will roll it out to a larger audience.
Just last week, we reported that the company was investing in HTML5 games. TikTok seems to be in the process of testing a number of new changes for its platform right now. In addition to hosting HTML5 games, it looks like TikTok is also working on a LIVE mobile gaming feature that will allow creators to interact with their audiences more effectively while livestreaming.
Furthermore, TikTok has also begun testing a private dislike button that allows users to flag comments that they deem irrelevant or inappropriate. When a user dislikes a comment, the dislike is kept private, and the commenters are not notified. The company has added a new set of social media management platforms to its Marketing Partners Program, which will enable you to organise, schedule, and yes, publish content to TikTok from your platform of choice.
