Landlocked African countries will soon be able to access affordable internet access as a result of a new subsea cable thatt would serve landlocked countries in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa.
The project is being undertaken by Liquid Sea which is a subsidiary of Liquid Telkom and will run approximately 10,000km of cable from South Africa to the Middle East through its Pan African terrestrial network. The cable will connect Africa to the Middle East and Europe and will provide sufficient and affordable internet by 2017.
With up to 10 times the capacity of existing submarine cables in the region, Liquid Sea is targeting to provide governments, businesses, schools and homes with high technology Internet connection.
“The Liquid Sea project reaffirms our commitment to building Africa’s digital future and removing any bottlenecks in providing the fastest and most reliable access to the Internet to every single African on the continent.” said Liquid Telecom Group CEO, Nic Rudnick.
