Netflix has introduced new filters for its “My List” feature on iOS and Android devices. “My List” allows users to create a personalised section to save movies and TV shows they intend to watch. The addition of these filters will assist users in sorting through the bookmarked titles they still haven’t watched.
Users can sort these titles based on release date, alphabetical order, content type (movies or TV shows), as well as the date they added the title to their list. These filters are particularly helpful for users with extensive lists who need a convenient way to organise and explore their saved titles.
Netflix users will have the ability to categorise their watchlists using various filters. They can opt to view only TV shows or movies in their list, choose between “Started” and “Haven’t Started” categories, and even arrange titles in the order they were added. These filters address the common issue of decision paralysis that arises when faced with an overwhelming number of choices.
Previously, My List lacked any filtering options, forcing mobile users to scroll extensively within the app to locate specific titles. With the introduction of these new filters, users can now save valuable time and effort when searching for their desired content.
While the update is currently available for Android users, Netflix plans to roll out the update gradually to iOS devices over the next few weeks. It’s important to note that these updates are exclusively for mobile users, with no immediate plans to extend them to TVs and other devices, TechCrunch reports.
In addition to the filtering options, Netflix has also introduced a convenient swipe feature that allows users to remove titles directly from the title card within the My List section. This enhancement eliminates the need to navigate to the individual landing page of each TV show or movie to remove it from the list, streamlining the overall user experience.
While the availability of these new features beyond mobile devices, such as Smart TVs and video game consoles, remains uncertain, it is hoped that they will eventually be accessible across all Netflix platforms.
