The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given MTN Nigeria till November 16 to pay the fine imposed on it for failing to deactivate the unregistered SIMs on its network.
According to a Reuters report, NCC spokesman Tony Ojobo said MTN had until Nov. 16 pay up, but the two sides were in talks to resolve the matter. The CEO of MTN Group, Sifiso Dabengwa, is already in Nigeria for the talks possibly for a reduction in the fine.
“The outcome of the discussion may affect the date. That’s why they are having the discussion so that they can reach a solution,” Ojobo said.
It was reported earlier that the fine affected the share price of the group by 12% when the fine was announced.
