Though rumoured for some time, it has now been confirmed via an email (see below) to its business owners that Mocality is closing down its businesses in Nigeria and Kenya on the 28th of February 2013.
Mocality is a business directory listing owned by Naspers’ MIH Internet Africa. It is the only directory listing business in Naspers’s Portfolio of businesses. It launched in Nigeria in September 2011.
Hello Business Owner
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and Mocality is one of them. We hereby give you notice that Mocality will cease to render its services on the 28th February 2013.
Please log into the system between now and the 28th to retrieve any data that you may require from the system, as the system will no longer be available after the 28th February 2013.
All paid for services that should have been rendered after that date (including advertising space and the like), will be refunded in full, and you will be contacted about that refund individually if it applies to you.
We would like to thank you for your patronage and your support, and bid you a fond farewell. If you require any more information please email support@mocality.com.ng
Regards
Team Mocality.
Mocality was a formidable competitor to many companies in different spheres. In the Business directory listings space, it was a formidable competitor to V-Connect. It also competed with Google’s GNBO by also getting businesses online by providing free websites to SMEs. DealDey will agree with me, it skipped a beat when MocalityDeals launched last year and that Daily Deals business will also not be the same without MocalityDeals.
Mocality will surely be missed and I know their competitors will heave a sigh of relief.
No official reason has been given for the closure of the business.
