National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has partnered with Imose Technologies Ltd to launch a new line of laptops and tablets manufactured in Nigeria. This initiative aims to provide affordable and accessible computing solutions for Nigerian consumers while strengthening the country’s digital landscape and promoting technological self-sufficiency.
The statement from NASENI’s Deputy Director of Information, Chima Akwaja, introduced the new line of devices, marketed under the NASENI brand name. The lineup includes the NASENI Zedon X-Pro laptop, a 14-inch device with a Core i5 processor, and a 10.5-inch tablet, both designed to cater to the needs of students, professionals, and everyday users.
“This milestone not only aligns with our vision of creating innovative, accessible technology but also underscores our commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital landscape,” a spokesperson for Imose Technologies stated on LinkedIn. “Here is to a future where Nigerian organizations and individuals alike benefit from world-class, homegrown technology solutions.”
This partnership aligns with NASENI’s mandate to promote indigenous technology development and drive industrialisation in Nigeria. By manufacturing laptops and tablets locally, NASENI and Imose Technologies are not only fostering job creation but also reinforcing Nigeria’s technological self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imported electronics.
Osayi Izedonmwen, Chairman of Imose Technologies, expressed his pride in the partnership on LinkedIn, highlighting the company’s decade-long vision to bridge the digital divide and enable innovation by producing affordable mobile devices.
“We are starting with orders from the public sector, followed by private companies and individual customers,” Izedonmwen stated. “We look forward to a future where Nigerian government agencies can solely rely on local companies for their technological devices and solutions, thereby enhancing the safety of our National infotech/cyberspace supply chain.”
The launch of these locally produced devices marks a significant step towards Nigeria’s goal of achieving technological self-reliance. By fostering local manufacturing capabilities, NASENI and Imose Technologies are contributing to the growth of the Nigerian tech industry and reducing the country’s reliance on imported technology.
This initiative also aligns with the government’s focus on promoting local content and empowering Nigerian businesses. By providing affordable and accessible technology solutions, NASENI and Imose Technologies are enabling individuals and organisations to participate fully in the digital economy.
