AI startup, UTU, has raised US$ 500,000 from Japanese VC firms.
Nairobi-based UTU was founded by Jason Eisen and Bastian Blankenburg in 2017.
UTU provides trust infrastructure for mobility, sharing, fintech and e-commerce platforms.
UTU’s Trust API, seamlessly provides personalised recommendations for trusted service providers on sharing platforms to drive conversion, satisfaction, retention, and viral acquisition.

According to Disrupt Africa, two Japanese-based venture capital firms participated in this round. These are Kepple Africa Ventures, and SoftBank Group subsidiary DeepCore.
Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands, and Artesian are other investors in the round.
In a statement to Disrupt Africa, UTU co-founder Eisen, said the investment would provide sufficient runway until the firm finalises its Series A round.
UTU, which has operations in Mauritius, has so far raised US$ 1.3 million since its launch in 2017.
