Grammy award winning musician, Wyclef Jean, has raised $25 million to fund music publishing services in Africa, the Caribbean and other developing regions through his newest venture Carnival World Music Group.
Carnival World provides artists with music publishing and distribution resources needed to promote their music and earn royalties.
According to Jean, “the demand for music from Africa and other developing regions is growing and these creatives deserve to be part of the international marketplace. There is a need for them to have open access to global publishing and distribution options that protect their rights and ensure that they are fairly paid. This initiative not only introduces and launches new talent but helps creatives around the world thrive in their careers”
Just recently, Carnival World Music Group announced partnerships with Alex Heiche’s Sound Royalties, an entertainment industry finance firm that helps creatives fund projects without having to put their copyrights at risk, and Madeline Nelson’s Heads Music, a global music distribution company.
The Haitian born artiste has done a lot of work with artists in Africa, such as D’Banj and 2Face Idibia.
Armed with this recent funding, Wyclef Jean says he will be launching a number of initiatives this year to search for new talents.
