Premium Times claims that the APC Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, joined social media because PDP labeled him a “semi-literate jackboot”.

Whether this is true or not, all that counts is that the 72 year old, one – time Military ruler is now on Social media. He posted his first tweet on Monday around midday saying “Good afternoon my friends! This will now be my official Twitter handle to communicate with you” His next tweet was “I and my office will speak to you from here. Personal tweets will be signed GMB,”

Even though a lot of Twitter handles abound in his name, his official Twitter handle is @thisisbuhari. You can also find him on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube with the same name.

The Buhari Campaign Organization formally announced the opening of its media and communication office to provide “responsible” information to the public.

According to the Director of Media and Communication, Dele Alake “While we congratulate the old media for the maturity and capacity displayed in integrating new media and technologies into their operations, experience has shown that the traditional skill of gate keeping, crucial to the production of credible and accurate information, has become a major challenge in the news dissemination service.”

Mr. Alake said that the APC presidential candidate’s campaign would focus on issues of electricity generation and distribution, poverty elimination, eradication of corruption, mass employment and security of lives and property.
