By Stephen Amaza on January 10, 2015 Business, People

The Ghanaian branch of MTN in partnership with the Ministry of Education in the country is planning to offer free internet access to Wikipedia. According to MTN, this forms as part of Wikimedia Foundation’s global Wikipedia Zero initiative.

Users of MTN in Ghana will be able to access Wikipedia free of charge. CMO, Rahul De, stated that Wikipedia Zero will provide an opportunity for children, students and professionals to learn more and enhance their knowledge.

The Wikimedia Ghana User Group (WMGUG), a recognised Wikimedia Foundation User Group, said providing access to Wikipedia free will be a great avenue to share the benefits of Wikipedia with the people of Ghana.

This development will make it easy for students and institutions to carry out basic research
