In May 2024, MTN Rwanda demonstrated its commitment to environmental responsibility by introducing the nation’s first biodegradable SIM cards, known as “bioSIMs.” This initiative aligns with Rwanda’s Green Growth and Climate Resilience Strategy and the MTN Group’s broader environmental goals.
The bioSIMs, made from 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, are designed to reduce the environmental impact of plastic SIM cards, addressing a growing concern in the global telecom industry.
