MTN has said it will continue to partner with Cameroon to boost the country’s strive for a fully digital economy.
The new Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon, Stephen Blewett, made the promise in a meeting with Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute on 2 September 2020.
Mr. Blewett who officially assumed office on 1 August 2020, also assured that users of the mobile network in the central African nation will in the days ahead witness an improvement in the quality of service.
The meeting with the Prime Minister was Blewett’s first official outing in the country.
Blewett after his meeting with the Prime Minister said, “We are committed to improving our quality of service. That’s one of the things users are going to see immediately, and we have already started doing that. We are also committed to continuing to bring and supporting new digital ideas and concepts, and thirdly to help young people develop in the digital economy domain.”
He said he also met with the top government official to “thank him for the warm welcome received in Cameroon and also to explain to him the commitment of MTN Cameroon in helping grow the telecommunications sector.”
Blewett, who came from MTN Benin in the capacity also met with the director-general of Cameroon’s state-owned broadcaster, CRTV. According to iAfrikan, the pair discussed how the two entities can strengthen their collaboration for the production of better digital content for viewers and listeners of the TV and radio components of the media establishment.
