Application for the MTN Innovation Challenge officially opened on the 20 July 2015. Now Startups have the chance to win 1 million FCFA (1,700 dollars) in funding, 6 months in an incubation program and 6 months subscription to “MTN VPS Standard Linux” hosting package.
To participate, think about your idea, develop your mobile app (Android 4.0+ or Windows Phone 8.0/8.1) or web app and submit it by filling the submission form. The idea shall be in one of the following category : e-commerce, communication, Game & entertainment, transport & trave, health, education, news & reference, community development, enterprise services.
The first round of the competition will close on the 8th of September, 2015. At the end of the 1st round, the top 10 applications will qualify for the round 2. The 10 finalists will be announced on the 18th of September
Each finalist will also benefit prizes below :
– 1 smartphone.
– 1 MTN Sonic Modem + 3 months of 3G internet access.
– 3 months subscription to “MTN VPS Standard Linux” hosting package.
At the end of the round 2, the 3 winners, announced on the 30th of October, will be awarded with:
– 6 months incubation program.
– Cash funding : 1 million FCFA.
– 6 months subscription to “MTN VPS Standard Linux” hosting package.
The MTN Innovation Challenge is powered by MTN Cameroon and ActivSpaces Tech incubator.
The panel of judges for this challenge is made up of the following: Linda Kouam – Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Cameroon; Georges Mpoudi – Chief Information Officer, MTN Cameroon; Jean Melvin Akam – Executive secretary, MTN Foundation; Ryan Yoder – Executive Director, ActivSpaces; Djiba Diallo – Developer Experience and Evangelism lead, Microsoft; Candace Nkoth Bisseck – Country Manager, Kaymu Cameroon and Fritz Ekwoge – Entrepreneur and owner of FeePerfect.
