MTN Nigeria has confirmed that a system glitch is behind the incorrect account balances experienced by some of its customers. The system glitch is impacting balance enquiries. Some MTN Subscribers have received error messages showing that their debts have been cleared. They woke up on Saturday morning to discover that the money they had borrowed through MTN XtraTime or MTN XtraByte had been cleared.

They went onto social media, specifically “X” thanking MTN Nigeria and even saying that they will borrow again.

    Dear MTN NG

The moment you helped some onigbese Nigerians to clear their debts. They did not even give it breathing space, some of them borrowed another money again. pic.twitter.com/fFNwvRclHY

The telecoms giant blamed the error on a system glitch and that its team was working to fix this. It also confirmed that all balances will reflect accurate figures once the problem is resolved.
