MTN Group has unveiled a sweeping leadership overhaul as part of its strategic realignment for 2025 and beyond. The changes, which reflect the company’s transition into its next phase of growth, will take effect from 1 November 2025 and include key executive appointments across its operations in Africa and the Middle East.

One of the most notable changes is the appointment of Ferdi Moolman, currently Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO), as the new CEO of MTN South Africa, replacing Charles Molapisi. Molapisi will return to his previous role as Group Chief Technology and Information Officer (GCTIO), where he will focus on accelerating AI adoption across the business.

MTN praised Molapisi for his leadership during a challenging period marked by power outages and network resilience issues, noting his continued role on the Group Executive Committee.

The leadership changes follow MTN’s impressive financial results for the first half of 2025:

    • Service revenue surged by 23.2% to R105.1 billion
    • Data revenue grew by 36.5%
    • Fintech revenue rose by 37.3%
    • Basic EPS jumped by 231.8% to 539 cents, recovering from a 409-cent loss in H1 2024
    • Headline EPS (HEPS) increased by 352.0% to 645 cents, compared to a 256-cent loss in the previous year

Although no interim dividend was declared, the board expects to issue a final dividend of 370 cents per share for FY 2025.

    Executive Committee Restructuring

The Group Executive Committee (Exco) will see several changes:

    • Yolanda Cuba, VP for SEA, steps down from the Group Exco to become Deputy CEO and Executive Director of MTN SA
    • Mike Harper, Chairman of MTN SA, will retire in Q1 2026 and be succeeded by Sindisiwe Mabaso-Koyana
    • Tsholofelo Molefe, Group CFO, will take on additional responsibilities overseeing Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
    • Kholekile Ndamase, current M&A Chief, steps down from Exco and will report to Molefe
    • Ismail Jaroudi, VP of MENA, transitions to VP of Special Projects while continuing as MTN Dubai CEO
