Moniepoint Inc. and NITHub Unilag are pleased to announce the commencement of applications for the second cohort of the HatchDev program, designed to cultivate the next wave of highly skilled software engineers in Nigeria.

This strategic initiative aligns seamlessly with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s commitment to constructing a robust framework for training one million technical talents in the next three years. Moreover, it resonates with the Presidency’s ambitious objective of creating two million digital jobs.

The specialised nine-month training program adheres to a rigorous recruitment process, aspiring to annually produce 300 junior software engineers, 100 intelligent systems developers, and 100 IoT/embedded systems engineers.

To apply, interested candidates must submit their applications by the deadline of February 18, 2024. Prospective participants are required to possess foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to maximize their engagement with the program. Application forms can be completed through the following link: https://bit.ly/HatchDev2.

The HatchDev Full-Stack Development training is designed to impart both front-end and back-end skills. It is imperative for applicants to have a background understanding of HTML/CSS, programming fundamentals, and proficiency in at least one Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) language.

Successful completion of the six-month training will grant participants the opportunity to apply their acquired skills during a three-month internship, allowing for real-world experience and further strengthening their expertise.

Upon concluding the training, selected participants will possess comprehensive knowledge and a portfolio suitable for launching a career as a Full-Stack Software Engineer.

Moniepoint emphasises that this initiative will contribute to narrowing the tech talent gap in Nigeria, aligning with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s objective of creating two million digital jobs in the country.

The training encompasses Front-end, Back-end, Mobile App Development, UI/UX Design, Data Science, and Embedded Systems/IoT. Graduates of the program are seamlessly absorbed into a market eager for their specialised skills. Launched in October 2022, the program has successfully trained and placed professionals in the industry.

The transformative learning experience includes six months of hands-on training, delving into full-stack development from fundamental to advanced techniques, providing a solid understanding of web technologies. Participants will undertake a three-month immersive internship, gaining practical experience, collaborating with industry experts, and building a network to advance their careers.

Chukwudum Ekwueme, VP Engineering at Moniepoint Inc., expressed enthusiasm for the transformative approach of the HatchDev program, highlighting its focus on practical experience, upskilling, startup incubation, and product development. He sees it as a valuable asset to the tech industry, supporting the government’s efforts to build a robust digital economy.

Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa, NitHub Director and HatchDev project lead, commended Moniepoint for the collaboration and emphasised the program’s transformative impact on participants’ lives, empowering them for rewarding careers in the global job market. He encourages interested individuals to apply and seize this unique opportunity to shape the future of technology in Nigeria.
