Microsoft has announced that its most recent Operating System, Windows 10 now runs on more than 900 million devices.

According to Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of its Modern Life, Search and Devices group who made this disclosure in a tweet noted that the company added more of the devices in the last 12 months than ever before.

#Windows10 is on more than 900M devices! Thanks to our customers, we added more new Windows 10 devices in the last 12 months than ever before. From PCs to HoloLens to Xbox to Surface Hub, Windows continues to power innovation—with more to come next week! https://t.co/G3CRdkFoPT pic.twitter.com/38fKk50IEH

Come January 2020, Microsoft will end support for Windows 7, which is likely to force at least some users to move over to a more modern (and supported) operating system.

While those numbers for Windows 10 are clearly increasing, Microsoft itself famously thought that it would get to 1 billion devices by the middle of 2018. At this rate, it will likely hit 1 billion sometime in 2020.
