Microsoft’s How-Old.Net Guesses Mark Zuckerberg is 43 years old

    How old are you? Hmmm….

Microsoft’s Machine Learning team built a site to try out Microsoft’s newly released Face detection API. The site lets users upload a picture and have the API predict the age and gender of any faces recognized in that picture. The team sent email to a group of several hundred people asking them to try the page for a few minutes and give feedback – optimistically hoping that at least 50 people would give it a shot.

Well they were shocked. Within a few hours, over 35,000 users had hit the page from all over the world (about 29k of them from Turkey, as it turned out – apparently there were a bunch of tweets from Turkey mentioning this page).

We, the Innovation Village team, tried the API using a picture of Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. Unfortunately it incorrectly guessed Mark Zuckerberg’s age as 43 years and Priscilla Chan to be even older – 46 years old. As most people know both are 30 years.

Don’t worry if it incorrectly guesses your age when you try it because the backend of the app is constantly searching for new photos/data it can learn from, so it theoretically should improve with time.

Why don’t you try it and share your result..Check out the site
