As the year winds down, the AI news does not. Microsoft has just announced that its Copilot AI chatbot is getting an upgrade, integrating with OpenAI’s newly launched model, GPT-4 Turbo, and the image generator DALL-E 3, among other enhancements. These updates, arriving just before the service’s first anniversary, are set to considerably augment its overall functionality. It poses a quirky question, though – do AI chatbots celebrate birthdays?
The integration with OpenAI’s latest large language model, GPT-4 Turbo, is a significant highlight. It will empower Copilot users to handle intricate tasks that might overwhelm previous software versions. While the last model could process a data input of up to 50 pages of text, GPT-4 Turbo can handle up to 300 pages. This advancement means responses to user queries should be more substantial and meaningful. Currently, select users are testing this integration, with broader accessibility expected in the following weeks.
Additionally, the integration comprises the new DALL-E 3 Model. This chatbot generates more precise images of higher quality than before, thereby ensuring the generated image aligns closely with the given prompt. This feature is already accessible to Copilot users, available for exploration at a designated location.
More features are in line to enhance your Copilot experience. The Inline Compose tool now incorporates a rewrite menu where users can select a text block, and Copilot rewrites it. Although this feature could be controversial in an academic setting (hint: sarcasm intended), it’s expected to be available to all Edge users soon.
The coding community is also benefitting from a new feature set dubbed Code Interpreter. Microsoft is keeping specifics under wraps but indicates that it will facilitate complex tasks including “data analysis, visualization, math,” alongside typical coding activities. Code Interpreter is presently in beta, with a broader release scheduled in the near future.
Finally, Bing’s search capabilities are receiving a GPT-4-powered upgrade. This enhancement will allow for expanded search queries on intricate topics and deliver optimized results. In a blog post, Microsoft explains how this advanced tool simultaneously searches for multiple variations of a query and automatically discards irrelevant information.
