Microsoft Unveils New AI-powered Search Features For Bing

Microsoft has announced new Intelligent Search features for Bing, powered by AI, to give users answers faster, give you more comprehensive and complete information, and enable you to interact more naturally with your search engine.

First, when answering a question, Bing will now validate its answers by sourcing a number of websites, not just one. And in cases where there are two valid perspectives, like, for example, in response to the question, “Is cholesterol bad,” they’ll be aggregated and Bing will show both at the top of the search page. Additionally, when there’s more than one way to answer a query, Bing will provide a carousel of answers.

This builds on an earlier feature, announced in September, in which Bing added fact checks to search results in an effort to cut down on misinformation, fake news, and other distorted stories from manipulative information sources.

Similarly, Bing’s more powerful image search function, trained on object recognition models, will be able to better identify objects in photos, including products worn by people featured in the photo, and landmarks.

Additionally, Bing and Reddit have partnered to bring the information contained in Reddit threads to Bing’s search page. Now you’ll be able to search Bing for certain Reddit topics or subreddits, such as “Reddit Aww,” and Bing will surface a snippet of the topic.
